Michela Ghisetti 1966

Michela Ghisetti studied painting and graphic arts with Gunter Damisch at the Accademia Carrara di Belle Arti in Bergamo and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.

The artist's oevre includes numerous different styles and facets, constantly exploring new content and materials in a variety of media. Biographical-emotional as well as philosophical-art theoretical elements flow into her work. A major content-related theme in Ghisetti's work is women and their socially determined roles, as well as questions about the boundary between the I and the Thou, between the individual and the group. The motifs become metaphors, she lets herself be inspired by what she has experienced, constantly incorporates new impulses into her art and does not allow herself to be reduced to one style. Her work is about integrating and uniting opposites such as chance and concept, drawing and painting, color and black and white. In form and content, it is characterized by her search for the origin of creative energy and for the central questions of human existence.

In addition to a 2021 - 2022 retrospective at the Albertina, her work is represented in numerous important collections.
